Rose Quartz Glow

UV index, sunscreen amount & reapply timer

Privacy

Privacy

Rose Quartz Glow has no accounts, no cookies of its own and no server code. Here is everything that leaves your browser, and everything it keeps.

What is sent, and where

Only the UV index forecast uses the network, and only to Open-Meteo, a free weather service. It is contacted directly from your browser; Rose Quartz Glow never sees these requests.

  • Place search: the name or postcode you type is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service at geocoding-api.open-meteo.com to find matching places.
  • Forecast: the chosen place's latitude and longitude, rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km), are sent to api.open-meteo.com to fetch the UV forecast. The example buttons (Sydney, Madrid, Miami, Singapore) send their city's rounded coordinates the same way.
  • “Use my location”: only when you press it does your browser ask for permission to share your position. If you allow it, the coordinates are rounded to two decimals on your device and only those rounded figures are sent to api.open-meteo.com. Your exact position is not stored or sent anywhere else.
  • If a saved place exists, its forecast is requested again when you open the forecast page.

Like any website, Open-Meteo receives your IP address with each request. Its own terms and privacy policy apply: open-meteo.com/en/terms. The sunscreen amount calculator, the reapply timer and the SPF explainer send nothing at all.

What is stored on your device

A few items are kept in your browser's local storage, never on a server, and you can clear them at any time:

  • The last place you chose (its name, region, country and rounded coordinates) and the last forecast loaded for it, so the page can show it again and work for a while offline. “Forget place” on the forecast removes both.
  • The reapply timer's running countdown, its settings, today's list of application times and whether you turned alerts on. “Stop” and “Clear the list” remove them.
  • Your choice of colour theme and of metric or US units.

Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything at once.

Notifications

The reapply timer can show browser notifications. Permission is requested only when you press “Turn on alerts”, and the notifications are created by the page itself in your browser: no push service is used and nothing is sent to us.

Analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which adds Cloudflare Web Analytics to every page. It counts page views without cookies and without cross-site tracking, and it never receives what you type into the tools, the places you search for or your location. Rose Quartz Glow runs no other analytics, advertising or tracking.

Links to other sites

Links to sources, sister sites, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck are ordinary links. Nothing is shared with those sites unless you follow a link, and their own privacy policies then apply.
